Allowed Activities - S4(1)

S4(1) provides a closed list if activities for which wayleaves can be obtained. It is proposed that this list is expanded with the following activities: f) installation of solar powered street lights on existing poles; g) installation of security cameras on existing poles, including the stringing of cables to private power points; There are often dark spots caused by insufficient street lights. It can improve the security in such areas if existing street lights can be enhanced by additional street lights funded by community organisations such neighbourhood watches and security companies. The installation of security cameras at strategic public spaces is limited by the willingness of the property owners to allow this. This problem can be overcome by allowing security cameras operated by security companies on public infrastructure.
