From "Phase 2: Comment on the proposed installation of public street lights in Kommetjie"

Go to the project

I have emailed my reasoning in the past, but to reiterate, Kommetjie enjoys its more rural village feel. I am quite happy to put my own solar lights wherever needed on my

proPerry and don’t need a streetlight shining into my bedroom window at night. This already happened in Hout Bay while we lived in Penzance and I really don’t want it to happen in our village now.

I'm sure you have all the environmental reason already stated by others but I second it.

Security is a poor excuse to add lights as we already have infrared cameras installed in various parts of the village which have reduced crime drastically. If anyone is unaware of the cameras they should be pointed to Kom Watch for more information.

Our village as is. We don't need more “progress” as some put it, or development. We seem to have reached the limits of our human disturbance and it seems to be about to time to let our surrounding reserve areas breathe.
