Keep our lamp posts clean

From "Resident Ideas (Jul '25 - Jun '26)"

Go to the project

The city allows registered persons/companies/agencies to attach billboards to lamp posts. The problem: When the billboards are removed, the fasteners or cable ties are often left behind on the lamp post. So it's fairly commonplace to see a lamp post with one or more clumps of old cable ties on its length. It's unsightly, and is a small detraction from the clean streets image that the city works so hard to maintain. The solution: Change the relevant municipal bylaw/regulation to make the removal of ALL cable ties on a lamp post compulsory whenever a poster is removed. This will put the onus on the billboard agencies to keep their 'workspace' tidy. It will make enforcement easier, because it will make the most recent 'user' of a lamp post accountable for any cable ties left on that lamp post.
