Refers the City of Cape Town Urban Planning and Design project aims to create a vision for a safer, more vibrant and integrated public space that supports pedestrian movement, enhances the user experience and strengthens the area’s role as a commercial destination. Potential interventions include improvements to pedestrian infrastructure, public space quality, the rationalisation of parking cars and motorbikes, and the introduction of traffic calming measures to improve safety and circulation. The comments below follows a similar trend.

The Comments are as follows:

1. Lighting in dark areas
2. SAP surveillance
3. Crime stats analysis
4. City of Cape Town law enforcement
5. Toilet facilities. How easy is it for a foreign tourists, who does not speak English or Afrikaans, to find a public toilet. Only existing toilets may be at Pick n Pay and Riverside Centre. General Comment. The availability of Public Toilets in the City of Cape Town is non-existent and depends entirely on toilets at the Shopping- Malls. Continual house-keeping is required. Also, direction and location signage are required.

19. An electronic interactive touch screen, similar to what is in a shopping mall showing the list of shops and where the shop location is. In Rondebosch you may have a local map for the area under consideration and a greater area map for the Cape Peninsular showing the popular tourist attraction places. These interactive maps should be scattered around the CBD, i.e. Riverside Centre, Pick n Pay; Baxter Theatre; Alma Theatre

21. Pedestrian crossings of Main Road to be assessed and provided.
22. Where do heavy sleepers reside. CCT intervention will be required.
23. Bottle stores generally attract unsavoury persons. To be assessed.
24. Tree maintenance

26. Fountain at Belmont Road- Refurbishment and noticeboard display of historical background
27. Liesbeeck River- water quality and possible access at Belmont Road. Safety will be an issue?
28. Reinstatement of flower sellers in Bellmont Road at Liesbeeck River.
29. Historical Museum at Library at Town Hall.
30. Tourist access to Woolsack House
31. Heritage Walks- Cameron Peters.
32. Tourist walk along Liesbeeck River from Belmont Road to Rosendale up to and along Main Rd to Fountain; Cross Main Road to access at St Pauls Church. Visit St Pauls Anglican Church. Back to Main Rd via Church Street.
33. Groote Schuur precinct- possible access to gardens by tourists. Cecil Rhodes permitted the public to picnic in the open areas of Groote Schuur adjoining the Main Road. The hydrangea would also be an attraction. Permission and control may be an issue.
34. Groote Schuur buildings- visits by public and tourists to possibly be arranged. Permission and control may be an issue.
