Not viable

From "Comment on the City’s draft Walking and Cycling Strategy"

Go to the project

Attempts had been made previously - Look at Adderley Street whereby one lane was taken away from normal traffic to accommodate cyclists. All this acchieved was to cause heavy unnecessary traffic outside the Adderly street Golden Acre entrance Having worked closeby to this dedicated cyclist lane, cyclists hardly ever used the lanes and the traffic is horrendous. There are plently outdoors and country roads to explore for cyclists and there are plently space within CDB where cyclists can be accommodated through walkways without taking away any normal traffic lanes to achieve this. Cape Town is already the most heavy congested city in Cape Town, adding cyclists lanes will not ease this.
