On the Road Accident Fund matter, I believe the Road Accident Fund should primarily serve South African citizens, as it is funded to provide support and protection to South Africans who are injured in road accidents. It is concerning to see large amounts of money being paid out to non-South Africans while many South Africans continue to face significant challenges.
In many countries, foreign visitors do not have the same access to public compensation schemes as citizens and residents. If a South African were involved in an accident abroad, they would often be expected to rely on travel insurance or the laws and insurance systems of that particular country.
For this reason, I believe there should be a review of who qualifies for Road Accident Fund compensation and to what extent. The priority should be ensuring that South Africans receive the support and protection that the fund was established to provide.
