Reporting on squatters via the C3 service request: problems with categorisation on the City of Cape Town portal.

Anthony Mills•2 months ago The matter of illegal structures and/or squatters is a major challenge across the City. Unfortunately the C3 service request is not appropriately structured for this. The most logical category for this issue on the portal is as follows: — Safety and Security → Squatters → Illegal structures and/or squatters. But this doesn't work because one cannot submit the C3 request online. Instead, when you select it, the portal stops you from making the submission and requires you to phone the Public Emergency Communication Centre. The only way to submit a request about squatters online is this route: Community, Arts and Culture Development → Community Development → Rough Sleepers. But this does not fully capture the problem as it does not pertain to illegal structures and/or squatters living in those dwellings. So in summary: please could you adjust the portal so that an official C3 request can be submitted online under the following categorisation: — Safety and Security → Squatters → Illegal structures and/or squatters. The telephone number to call can also be displayed, but the public should be able to submit the C3 service request on illegal structures and squatters online. I trust this makes sense.
