Comment on the Draft Business Support Policy

The City of Cape Town intends to revise the Business Support Policy. The City recognises the critical role of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in driving inclusive economic growth, job creation, innovation, and spatial transformation. The core purpose of the policy is to drive economic growth in the City of Cape Town through the enablement of MSME development and access to market. The current process aims to refine the existing policy by adding provisions and removing administrative barriers to MSME advancement. Part of the process is that the public be afforded the opportunity to make representation and or give input on the Business Support Policy. Notice is hereby given in terms of Section 17 of the Local Government Municipal Systems Act, whereby Council is affording the public and interested parties or groups the opportunity to submit comments, recommendations or input to the municipality for a period of 30 days. The 30-day comment period commences on 15 June 2026 and concludes on 15 July 2026.

Comments, input and recommendations in respect of the proposed policy can be submitted in any of the following ways:

  • By email to Business.Support@capetown.gov.za
  • By written submission delivered to the Economic Growth Directorate, 12th Floor, Civic Centre, 12 Hertzog Blvd, Foreshore, Cape Town, 8001
  • by Clicking the Add a comment Button

Special assistance will be given to people who cannot read or write, people with disabilities and other disadvantaged groups who are unable to submit written comments, to have their inputs or comments recorded and submitted to the Municipality. For such purpose, members of the above-mentioned groups may contact the City of Cape Town Public Participation Unit: For general public participation: Mbuthokazi Kubashe at 021 400 9808 or Mbuthokazi.Kubashe@capetown.gov.za, or disadvantaged groups’ assistance:
