Construction of the new NMT infrastructure will affect the following roads/streets:
  • Ntabeko Street between Old Paarl Road and Henzekile Street
  • Henzekile Street between Lawu Street and Ntabeko Street
  • Mlenzana Street between Old Paarl Road and Henzekile Street
  • Ndawo Street between Ntabeko Street and Mlenzana Street
  • Jackson Masala Street between Old Paarl Road and Sam Nkozela Avenue
  • La Boheme Street between Jackson Masala Street and Botfontein Road
  • Dlali Street between La Boheme Street and Xuma Street
  • Mphandle Street between Maroela Road and La Boheme Street
  • Sam Njokozela Avenue between Old Paarl Road and La Boheme Street
  • Van Riebeeck Street between Voortrekker Road and Frans Conradie Drive
  • 1st Avenue between Gigaba Street and Van Riebeeck Street
  • 6th Avenue between Van der Bijl Street and Van Riebeeck Street
  • Van der Bijl Street between 12th Avenue and Voortrekker Road
  • Windmeul Street between Old Paarl Road and Frans Conradie Drive
  • Goedehoop Avenue between Frans Conradie Drive and Brackenfell Boulevard
  • Frans Conradie Drive between Old Oak Road and Van Riebeeck Street
  • Old Paarl Road between Brackenfell Boulevard and Kruisfontein Road
  • William Dabbs Street between Old Paarl Road and Old Paarl Road
  • Paradys Street between Old Paarl Road and Goede Hoop Avenue
  • Rogland Street between Pardys Street and Kestel Street
  • Brink Street between Kestel Street and Frans Conradie Drive
The scope of the project will include:
  • Upgrading and maintaining NMT facilities and ensuring facilities are universally accessible
  • Upgrading and installing dropped kerbs and tactile ground surface indicators for the visually impaired
  • Upgrading pedestrian crossings by shortening the crossing distances, improving signage and road markings
  • Introducing protected cycle lanes where applicable

The new infrastructure will have a significant impact on improving road safety for both pedestrians and cyclists.

In terms of Section 17 of the Local Government: Municipal Systems Act, Act 32 of 2000, you can submit comments to the municipality in respect of the proposed NMT infrastructure.
