Construction of the new NMT infrastructure will affect the following roads/streets:
  • Albert Philander Way between Eestriv Way and Raymond Ackerman Avenue
  • Bardale Road between Hindle Road and Silversands Avenue
  • Bentley Crescent between Eestriv Way and Silversands Avenue
  • Diepwater Main Road between Waterblom Main Street and Kasba Street
  • Eestriv Way between Eestriv Way and police station entrance
  • Hindle Road between Wesbank Main Road and Eestriv Way
  • Marthinus van Schalkwyk Road between Happiness Street and Wesbank Main Road
  • Silversands Main Road between Wesbank Main Road and Wesbank sportsground
  • Vogelvlei Main Road between Wesbank Main Road and Silversands Main Road
  • Waterblom Main Street between Silversands Main Road and Wesbank Main Road
  • Wesbank Main Road between Hindle Road and Stellenbosch Road
The scope of the project will include:
  • Upgrading and maintaining NMT facilities and ensuring facilities are universally accessible
  • Upgrading and installing dropped kerbs and tactile ground surface indicators for the visually impaired
  • Upgrading pedestrian crossings by shortening the crossing distances, improving signage and road markings
  • Introducing protected cycle lanes where applicable

The new infrastructure will have a significant impact on improving road safety for both pedestrians and cyclists.

In terms of Section 17 of the Local Government: Municipal Systems Act, Act 32 of 2000, you can submit comments to the municipality in respect of the proposed NMT infrastructure.
