The City of Cape Town invites public comment on a proposed monument at the corner of NY1 and NY108 in Gugulethu. The memorial will honour pivotal moments in Gugulethu’s history, including the 1960s Permit Gate, Philip Kgosana’s march, and the memory of families who shaped the community. This monument aims to celebrate Gugulethu’s resilience, unity, and rich heritage. Community members are encouraged to share their views on this meaningful project.

With this monument, we aim to celebrate Gugulethu’s resilience, unity, and rich heritage.
In terms of section 17 of the Local Government: Municipal Systems Act, Act 32 of 2000, you can submit comments and recommendations to the municipality in respect of the proposed monument.
