
Proposed One-Way Road Conversion: Elbrecht Street and Vreem Street, Bothasig

The City of Cape Town’s Urban Mobility Directorate invites residents, parents and road users to comment on a proposal to introduce an anticlockwise one-way system along Elbrecht Street and Vreem Street in Bothasig. This proposal is designed to improve traffic flow, enhance safety and create a more organised road environment around Bosmansdam Primary School, an area with many vulnerable road users during busy drop-off and pick-up times. By participating in this process, your insights and feedback can help shape a safer, more efficient neighbourhood for everyone. Please refer to the area map to note the proposed one-way road conversion. 
The proposal includes:
• Implementation of an anticlockwise one-way on Elbrecht Street from Cloete Street to Vreem Street
• Implementation of an anticlockwise one-way on Vreem Street from Elbrecht Street to Jacob Street.
• Provision of 45° parking bays along Elbrecht Street.
• Provision of parallel parking bays along Elbrecht Street.
• Provision of parallel parking bays along Vreem Street.
In terms of section 17 of the Local Government: Municipal Systems Act, Act 32 of 2000, the public and interested parties or groups are given the opportunity to submit comments, recommendations or input on the proposal to the municipality from 15 April to 15 May 2026
