The Claremont and Newlands Heritage Walk Project aims to honour and preserve our shared history, heritage, and collective memories for future generations.

Cape Town has a beautiful, yet complex past. The walk will serve as a lasting tribute to the people and stories that have shaped the Claremont and Newlands communities.

We are inviting former and current residents of Claremont and Newlands, as well as community organisations, to register as part of the working group for the project.

As a participant, you will help co-design the project, including:

  • Contributing to highlighting moments in history and the themes to be included
  • Mapping out the Heritage Walk route

This is the first phase of a broader public participation process. The collaboration process will run for approximately six to nine months, with implementation planned between July 2026 and June 2027.
